Families who reside at The Mansions of McKinney are served by the McKinney Independent School District (MISD), which enrolls students living in McKinney and parts of Allen, Fairview, Lowry Crossing, New Hope, and Princeton. The district, which is known for excellent rankings and superior education, serves 24,500 students in 20 elementary schools, five middle schools, three high schools, two alternative campuses, and one early education center. The district proudly holds a 98% on-time graduation rate, compared to a statewide rate of 89%. The district also ranks above average in college readiness scores and has had 10 Region 10 Teachers of the Year, more than any other school district in the area.

DISTINCTIVE, TOP-RATED SCHOOLS

The McKinney Independent School District outperforms the region and state in all subjects and grade levels as measured by STAAR assessments. All three MISD high schools were ranked in the top 8% of the nation’s high schools according to the 2020 U.S. News & World Report rankings.

MISD is one of only 433 school districts in the U.S. and Canada and one of only 22 school districts in Texas named to the 7th annual College Board AP District Honor Roll for increasing student enrollment in Advanced Placement (AP) courses while also increasing scores on AP exams.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

In 2021, the MISD was named as one of NAMM’s Best Communities for Music Education for the 5th consecutive year. It also is the only district in Texas to have TMEA Honor Choir at every level. MISD students can also participate in theater programs, sports and cheerleading, robotics, computing, and leadership-building programs.
